Madano names first creative Director

Madano, the strategic communications agency focused on healthcare and net-zero transition, has hired Arian Oldroyd as its first creative director following a spike in client demand for creative comms.

The appointment of a creative director is part of Madano’s five-year growth plan that last year saw turnover grow 22 per cent to £8m.

In this new role, Arian Oldroyd will oversee the agency’s existing team of multidisciplinary designers.

Prior to Madano, Oldroyd was a creative director at creative agency Gather London. He has 16 years of experience, working with brands including Armani, Absolut Vodka, The Body Shop, Adidas, The Premier League, Harrods and Sky.

He said: “The need to deliver brilliant creative outcomes to clients has never been more important, and the ethos of Madano and focus on shaping the future chimed with where I was focusing my creative energies.”

The agency said it has seen increased client demand for creative offers over the past 24 months.

Managing partner Michael Evans said: “Over the past eight years we have quadrupled the size of the business and while we have had a creative practice for some time now, we felt the time was right to appoint a creative director. From the moment we met Arian, we knew he got us and our culture, and he will be a massive success with us.”

Since Evans took over as managing partner at the end of 2014, Madano has quadrupled its size from £2m to £8m today, with about 60 consultants in the business.

As part of its five-year plan, Madano has also invested in senior talents such as Matt Houlsby, a former UK diplomat and press secretary to three Foreign Secretaries. He joined the energy team last year from NJI, the public policy-focused US creative agency where he led the London office.
