London-based communications consultancy Madano has appointed a director to its net-zero transition team, who previously held senior communications roles at Instinctif Partners.

Tim Field (pictured) joins Madano’s net-zero team, led by managing director Matthew Houlsby, which helps clients in the energy, infrastructure, transport and related sectors.

Field has 20 years of senior experience in the corporate and energy sectors, advising boards and the government.

He joined Madano after eight and a half years at Instinctif Partners, where he rose to the position of director.

Instinctif Partners’ UK division, which was recently bought by global marcomms agency Team Lewis, was placed into administration on the same day the business was acquired, PRWeek reported last month.

Before Instinctif Partners, Field was the UK and European head of press and public affairs at the Energy Networks Association, overseeing communications strategy and managing media, parliamentary and stakeholder engagement.

Earlier in his career, he served as external relations adviser at the University Alliance.

Commenting on his appointment, Field said: “The UK has a strong energy sector and innovative businesses working towards the net-zero transition, but they also face vocal opposition.

“To navigate this challenge, there is an increasing need for communications based on accessible, evidence-led conversations that build trust. Madano has a clear purpose and impressive momentum – I’m excited to join a passionate, growing team helping clients lead meaningful change.”

Michael Evans, president and managing partner at Madano, added: “Tim’s experience and insight will be invaluable as we support clients navigating complex energy and sustainability challenges.

“I know Tim is going to impress current and future clients, as we continue to grow and expand our offering in our net-zero practice.”

Madano’s parent company, Avenir Global, employs 1,000 staff and operates in eight countries. Alongside Cherry and Madano, the holding company owns Hanover, which it acquired in 2019; healthcare PR agency Axon Communications; National Public Relations and PR agency Time & Space, both in Canada; as well as PR and comms agency Padilla and integrated comms agency Shift in the US.

Avenir Global was established in 2017 by National PR as a holding company to manage the agency alongside subsidiaries Madano, Axon and Shift, as well as recent acquisitions Padilla, Cherry, Hanover and Time & Space.
