Hanover today announces the appointment of Anita Boateng as President and Managing Partner, leading the firm’s international operations across London, Dublin, Brussels, Dubai and Riyadh.
Boateng’s appointment comes at a time when organizations are navigating an increasingly complex environment shaped by political uncertainty, economic pressure, and rapid technological transformation. As those challenges evolve, so too does the need for integrated advice that brings together public affairs, strategic communications, corporate reputation, and stakeholder engagement.
Her appointment reflects Hanover’s ambition to build on its strong foundations and invest in the next phase of growth across its international business.
Boateng joins Hanover from Portland, where she served as Managing Partner, leading the agency’s public affairs practice through a period of intense political and economic upheaval. During that time, she delivered robust growth and built one of the industry’s strongest client portfolios in highly regulated sectors, combining strategic foresight with deep political and policy networks to help clients grow.
She brings experience spanning agency leadership, government, media, and Parliament. Boateng advised three Cabinet ministers across five departments, including serving as a Special Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister from 2018 to 2019. Earlier in her career, she worked as a political producer on BBC Question Time. She is a graduate of Oxford University and an established political voice across major U.K. broadcast media, appearing regularly on Sky News and flagship BBC political programming.
Commenting on the appointment, Charles Lewington, Founder of Hanover, said:
“Anita combines an entrepreneurial drive with political nous and media fluency in a way that is rare in this industry. She has built a strong track record in agency leadership and is ambitious for clients and ambitious for the business. We are delighted to welcome her to take Hanover to the next phase of growth.”
Jean-Pierre Vasseur, President and CEO of AVENIR GLOBAL, said:
“Anita is exactly the kind of modern leader Hanover needs for its next chapter. She has sharp media, political, and commercial judgement and the ability to bring momentum to the businesses she leads. Hanover already has exceptional talent, strong client relationships, and deep expertise. Anita’s appointment will further strengthen Hanover’s position as a leading strategic advisory firm across the U.K., Dublin, Brussels and the Middle East.”
Anita Boateng, incoming Hanover President and Managing Partner, said:
“I’m honoured to be taking on the leadership of Hanover. Charles built an outstanding agency that helped redefine what strategic communications could be. As our industry enters another period of change, driven by geopolitical volatility, economic pressure, and advances in AI, I look forward to working with the team to write the next chapter of Hanover’s story and help clients seize the opportunities that change brings.”
Boateng will join Hanover on June 29, 2026.
